ASSASSINS
Music & Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim
Book by John Weidman

Director – Paul Treasure
Musical Director – Sarah Cosstick

Season 6-21 March 2009

From 3pm – Saturday 20th December 2008
Roleystone Theatre, Brookton Hwy, Roleystone

“Bold, original, surreal, disturbing, thought-provoking and alarmingly funny, “Assassins” is perhaps the most controversial musical ever written.
This most American of musicals lays bare the lives of nine individuals who assassinated or tried to assassinate the President of the United States, in a one-act historical “revusical” that explores the dark side of the American experience. From John Wilkes Booth to Lee Harvey Oswald, Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman bend the rules of time and space, taking us on a nightmarish rollercoaster ride in which assassins and would-be assassins from different historical periods meet, interact and in an intense final scene inspire each other to harrowing acts in the name of the American Dream.”

I was just wondering about the ages you indicate you're using only as a 'guideline' - exactly how lenient either way are you intending to be on them?

Ages of characters

The ages listed are the ages the characters actually were during the events portrayed...

In an ideal situation the best person auditioning for each role will also be (or look) the right age.
HOWEVER that rarely happens...
Age is only one factor...

Most of the characters I could cast younger
Some I could easily cast older

Some characters age really is irrelevant (e.g. Zangara , Guiteau)
Others it is vitally important (e.g. Hinckley, Oswald)

"Will you be having a chorus as well?"

NO

I will be having a cast of ten, who as well as playing their main character will also cover all the other smaller roles as well.

Which means, of course, that most of the cast will be on almost the entire show
