Is that there has been no precasting at all.

If the Mandurah cast members are clever, they may have started the rumour to better their chances.

I think you'll find that there will be a huge turnout and a very different cast, as it will be very competitive.

Please don't say "shame" based on rumour and innendo. Ask a question, by all means, but wait for an answer before making judgements.

Playlovers Inc productions are of the highest standard's they only work with experienced and talented director's and performers, they have won many award's over the year's. For a person to be invited to direct and reprise a role for their company they would have to meet those standard's . To make the stupid statement above are obviously very ignorant.

If that is true, that is really dissapointing.

How can a director or assistant director conduct fair auditions if they are considering themsleves or their partners for the role?

Surely it is too much of a coincidence that the best people for ALL the major roles happened to be the production team and there boyfriends and girlfriends?

All this will suceed in doing, is discouraging more and more poeple not to even audition for roles.

Not really sour grapes Moi - I did not audition either....and I happen to know a few of the people cast and know they are good performers Smiling

I was more pointing out the fact that this is the sort of situation that prevents people from auditioning.

If I had gone through an audition process, only to find out later on that the asst director had been cast in the lead role and his girlfriend had been cast in the other lead, I would be more than angry. They have basically wasted a lot of peoples time - when they could have just stated in the audition packs that these roles are already cast?

I dont think people would be upset about the people who have got the roles, more the way in which they were cast. They can say until they are blue in the face it wasnt pre-cast, but the proof is in the cast list isnt it?

WWS!!

Can I just put in my two

Can I just put in my two cents worth here. I know everyone is pissed off about this whole double cast, pre-cast and Mandurah returning cast thing. Lets actually get some facts here.

244 people auditioned over two weekends. there were a lot of really poor actors, dancers and singers and a lot of fantastic actors singers adn dancers amoungst them. These people came from all over the Perth Metro area including Mandurah. The auditionees went through the following auditions:
1. They sang a song of their choosing
2. They read from a script
3. They did a group dance audition
From these auditions they were either called back or thanked for their time.

I was called back for two roles. The call backs took place on another weekend. To make it fair all those who were called back for a role were called back together. This means the three girls who were called back for Belle were all called back at the same time. I saw the callback for belle.

The three girls were Cass (from the original Mandurah cast), Jess (the assistant directors girlfriend) and another girl called Cass. The fact was from these three girls it was impossibe to seperate Mandurah Cass and Jess. They were both sublime so they were both offered the role. This happened at a number of auditions including the ones for the beast and cogsworth.

The level of those auditioning was incredibly high. Even small roles were decided on the smallest of things because it was so difficult to choose one cast. For example the three girls who won the roles of the Silly girls have the fact that they were the shortest to thank. There were seven girls called back who were all fantastic for these roles.

Even the chorus was difficult to decide. These poor girls and boys had to sing and dance for around two hours before they were either cast or told thankyou. It was an incredibly draining day.

In the end I think that those who were cast in the show are the best for the roles.
