Upstart Theatre Company are proud to announce that they will be holding auditions for their first production 'The Taming of the Shrew' on Saturday the 21st and Sunday the 22nd of June. Please make us aware immediately if you can't make these dates but would still like to audition.

The performance will be in late november/early december this year. The rehearsal process will begin with voluntary weekly commedia workshops beginning in July, with the major rehearsal period beginning ten weeks before the performances.

Please call our company phone on 0413 146 499 to book an audition time. The phone may not be attended so please leave your name, E-mail address and a contact number and we will get back to you with an audition slot as soon as possible. Audition's will last approximately half an hour. Alternatively, you may send an email to us at upstart@iinet.net.au. Auditions will be held at 1st Salter Point Sea Scout hall at the end of Elderfield Rd in Manning.
The audition may be quite physical so please wear appropriate footwear and clothing. For the audition you need to prepare about 12 lines of Shakespeare that are not from 'The Taming of the Shrew' and a monologue from a contemporary text that is roughly two minutes in length.

Please be aware that the roles of Petruchio and Katherina have already been cast. That should not however discourage you from auditioning, 'The Shrew' is shaping up to be a very exciting production. I look forward to seeing you all very soon.

Hey, great to see a new theatre company starting up - and what a fantastic play to start out with.

I see the play goes up in December - perhaps you could let us know when you plan to start rehearsing, so that those of us with other projects on the go can make a decision?

Cheers,

GOOD PEOPLE
By David Lindsay-Abaire, directed by Kaarin Fairfax
February 3 – March 3
What makes a good person? Is it possible to start life over? When Mike Dillion reconnects with his one time girlfriend from high school a friendship is rekindled. Lindsay-Abaire’s thoughtful new play explores class distinctions and the decisions we make that effect our entire lives.
