The old Mill Theatre  will audition for the second season of 2010 on SUNDAY February 14 th from 10 am The season will run April 23 to May 8th. This is the dramatised story of a group of female convicts transported from England to Sydney at the beginning of the 19th century. during the six month voyage the womwn come to learn of the male bias in society represented by the ship's crew and learn that they will only survive by their wits and dependence on each other. This is a drama with plenty of earthy humour and enlivened by the women's determination to survive. Survive they do with wit, cunning and sheer determination. This play has 6 excellent female role for actresses who love a challenge.. There are 4 male roles, Captain, Surgeon, Sargeant & Cabin-boy. Please contact director Hywel Williams on 0410.274.299 or hywelsw@hotmail.com for further information Age ranges variable.

Information from director Hywel Williams:

I’ve been thinking more about the auditions, and because the dialogue of the play is a series of one line comments from each of the actors there is no way to get auditionees to show their verbal and acting skills by selecting something from the script, so I have decided to structure the auditions differently from the way I normally run them.

Because of the large number of enquiries I shall be auditioning in blocks of 15mins beginning from 10am. You will each be allocated a time slot, however if there are time constraints because of work commitments let us know and we will reschedule.

What I now want is a prepared piece up to 30 seconds in length. The piece needs to demonstrate your ability to deliver in a rough lower class London or any other British local accent. Be prepared to be stopped and change direction at any time in your delivery.
The auditions will take place on 14th Feb with call backs, if required. on Tuesday 16th Feb with final decisions by Sat 20th.

We will then have our first meet, greet, and read on Tuesday 24th . At this meeting you will be given the basic housekeeping notes of the theatre and the play.

Please email me with your preferred times and I will within the next two weeks confirm your timeslot. Remember first in best dressed.

NB: Please contact the director,  not the theatre for all details.
