Great Expectations is a coming of age story that revolves around the life of one man, Pip. From the time he was 7 years old until he is in his late twenties, Pip shows us the important events in his life that shape who he became.

"In the little world in which children have their existence, there is nothing so finely perceived as injustice," Charles Dickens declares in "Great Expectations." He is not speaking merely of legal miscarriages, but more especially of injustices of the heart--injustices which endure to colour adulthood. With these, Dickens himself was well acquainted throughout much of his life. Yet he managed to transform years of humiliation into high art. Much of his personal history he crammed into "Great Expectations," written as a magazine serial in 1861, made into a memorable masterpiece of a movie--and then adapted for the stage by Robert Johanson. At its world premiere at the Paper Mill Playhouse New Jersey, audiences and critics cheered this new version of one of the greatest stories ever told. This gripping drama, replete with Dickens’ delightful humour and a parade of marvellous quirky characters, is a great introduction to audiences of all ages to a great work of literature.

Have just seen your auditions for Great Expectations were on the weekend. I lovingly took my husband to Singapore for a secret 30th birthday present so would not have been able to attend even if I had realised.

Great Expectations is one of my all time favourite stories. Have you cast all your roles? If so - when will the show be on? I missed the auditions, I certainly can't miss being an audience member!

Hi Sky,

Sorry you missed the auditions. As far as I know, most roles have been or are in the process of being cast, but there are still some roles left to fill. I don't have the full details, so best to speak to Peter or Nicola (their contacts details are in the original post) - but don't expect an answer straight away as they've left on a well earned break for a couple of days.

The season will be 26 November - 11 December 2010 (details now added to ITA web site)

Ciao
Rob
