The Genesian Theatre will be holding auditions for Pygmalion, by George Bernard Shaw, on Thursday 18th Feb, and Sat 20th Feb.

This wonderful comedy of course inspired the musical My Fair Lady but the play itself is undergoing a major revival, recently being restaged in London by Sir Peter Hall and on Broadway starring Claire Danes.

To be staged as a major Production with sumptuous Costumes and Sets this will be a great fun Play to be part of.

Roles available are:

ELIZA DOOLITTLE Lead female role, Age early 20s Transforms during the play from a rough cockney to a well spoken lady.

ALFRED DOOLITTLE Eliza's Father. A Cockney Dustman, and a main comedy role.

PROFESSOR HENRY HIGGINS Lead Male Role, age 40s, expert in English dialects, but rather lacking social graces.

MRS HIGGINS Henry's Mother, refined Lady in her 60s.

COLONEL PICKERING Ex British Indian Army, student of Indian dialects, has impeccable manners, age 50s.

MRS PEARCE Housekeeper for Henry Higgins. Motherly, age over 50.

MRS EYNSFORD-HILL Genteel Lady age 50s.

CLARA EYNSFORD-HILL Her Daughter. Age early 20s, Young Lady about Town.

FREDDY EYNSFORD-HILL Her Son, age mid 20s, falls for Eliza.

(ages indicative only)

There are also small speaking roles available for Maids & Male Bystanders

The play runs from 8 May to 19 June 2010.

People wishing to audition (or seeking more info) should email rgp@iinet.net.au to book an audition time, or phone 92110459

As the play is freely available on the internet there will not be a reading of the piece in advance of the auditions.

Why are you advertising this as a Victorian audition?

Actually Jaxstar, the two posts you have left comments on were not advertised in Victory but as Australia which means that they will be picked by the search engines regardless.

What it points out is that many of our posters are not making use of the State Location Field when creating their events. They simply leave the default option of Australia in place, which does not help people like yourself who come searching for auditions and the like.

Logos, it is a result of the search engines. The original post has been flagged as Australia and as such is appearing in What's On Audition filters regardless of what state you are looking in. If more people used the State Selection when posting events, it wouldn't be a problem.
