Wow. Your question just made me take stock....No, I saw virtually none of them! The only exceptions were 'In Two Minds', which I thought was excellent on all levels; and 'Dealer's Choice' (which I'll count because I saw the Red Ryder production which preceded the PTC production that got the nominations), which was also deserving.

But how did so much theatre get past me? It doesn't feel like I've seen any less this year, or been any less involved?
As nomination-worthy as these plays obviously were, very few of them were sufficiently advertised in a way that enticed me to come and see them.
What does that say about the current image of theatre, I wonder?

Cheers,
Craig

Is it the lack of advertising or competition for our attention from so many other areas?

Or is it the brevity of seasons? Are we lacking staying power?

I can't comment on the productions themselves (sigh again!), but it's my impression that very few local shows are playing for more than three weeks.

Do we need to be ploughing more effort into advertising shows or is it that we're not allowing word of mouth to work its magic? How often have you heard stunning reports of a show and thought, "I must see that", only to discover it finished last week?

Is the problem that it is all over all too soon?

Cheers
Grant

This seems to be a start of about season lengths. maybe I should start a new thread because it seems to be important. I think I will.
