Fairbridge Festival - 17 to 19 April 2009

Fairbridge Festival is an annual family-friendly celebration of folk, roots, blues, acoustic, celtic, a capella and world music in a traffic-free, self-contained bushland site at Fairbridge Village, which is about an hour south of Perth, near Pinjarra.

This year the festival is held from 17 to 19 April.

Legendary French guitar guru Pierre Bensusan heads up a lineup of world-class international artists from Canada, USA, Denmark, Germany, England and Guinea, mixing it up with the hottest Australian world music acts.
Expect Greek rebetika, Mexican harp, West African kora and South African jazz, cool Brazilian grooves, Irish reels, Peruvian pan-pipes, Pygmy yodelling, old-time string band music, a nine-foot bagpiper, red-hot guitar, ukulele and banjo pickers and the pumpkin-powered mayhem of Totally Gourdgeous (Aus Folk Awards Best Live Act 2008).

With arguably the best kid’s festival in Australia, perennial “King of the Kids”, Peter Combe, heads up an action-packed program. And there’s an exciting new element to the youth program.

See http://www.fairbridgefestival.com.au/ for the full program, campingg and ticketing details!

Fairbridge camping

There is an urgent need for a designated quiet camping area well separated from the others, with no playing of radios, no playing of musical instruments, and quiet after 11 pm. I had to miss most evening music events due to lack of sleep, caused by young people partying and playing thumping music on their radios late into the night near my site. Friends of mine didn't go this year due to similar problems last year.
Fairbridge Fields is huge, so it would be very easy to set up a deignated quiet area at least 100m away from other campers. We are happy to walk a long way to the ablutions for the sake of peace and quiet.
