Harbour Theatre's Gala Opening

Norma | 04/03/2010 - 12:26

Last night Harbour Theatre held a 'Gala Opening" at their new premises, in Port Cineaste in Fremantle.

Members and friends gathered to proclaim that in spite of all their recent difficulties Harbour Theatre is alive and well! We were given a preview of what is to come in their opening season and enjoyed good food and wine. It was a little disappointing to the indefatigable committee that very few of the local theatre Presidents were able to be present to celebrate " triumph over adversity". (Likewise no- one from Fremantle City Council saw fit to attend)

Please come and support Harbour at the first season, opening tomorrow.

They have, in a few short weeks transformed a dusty space into an intimate theatre, the effort has been tremendous, I was  at their AGM early last month and could hardly believe the transformation- all achieved by members without outside assistance!

Opens March 5th-Deckchairs by Jean Mcconnell. Director Peter Kirkwood

Featuring: Nicola Bond, Sue Lynch, Joan Scafe, Ann Speicher

Note: I am a member of Harbour Theatre.

Sorry David, I didn't deliberately leave you out!

I am aware that you have done a great deal  of work in getting the lighting up and working in time for the show- I  was actually referring to the volunteer members of the theatre, probably rather badly worded!

Playlovers Inc. (Perth) auditions for
Cosi fan Tutte

W.A. Mozart and Lorenzo da Ponte.

Musical Director: David Hardie. Stage Director: Paul Treasure.

No, Playlovers is not doing a musical adaption of Tinto Brass's 1992 soft porn movie of the same name.  Playlovers is actually doing a classical opera. This is a fully staged production with orchestra and importantly sung in English.
