"Heath Ledger Theatre... or not
Thursday, October 30, 9:55am AEDST.

The West Australian Government is re-considering a decision to name a new performing arts space in Perth after the late actor Heath Ledger.

The previous Government made the commitment but new West Australian Premier Colin Barnett said it might not have been the best move, with plenty of disagreement in the arts world.

"He was a young actor who had some great successes and I have no doubt was headed for an outstanding career," The West Australian quotes Mr Barnett as saying.

"But he lost his life at a very young age so we never saw the true achievement that Heath Ledger may have made."

Yeah, I saw that too Na. I was going to wait 'till there was some more confirmation. I believe that while the statement has been made, there are serious arguments about removing the title due to promises of the previous government. While the current Govt has no obligations to follow through with anything promised by the outgoing office, the potential impacts of reversing this decision is being seriously reviewed.

It is mainly supporters and family members who may be 'offended' by the move but I am sure that the new office does not want to bend too many noses out of joint. Then again, I could simply be giving the Govt far too much credit.

Playlovers Inc. (Perth) auditions for
Cosi fan Tutte

W.A. Mozart and Lorenzo da Ponte.

Musical Director: David Hardie. Stage Director: Paul Treasure.

No, Playlovers is not doing a musical adaption of Tinto Brass's 1992 soft porn movie of the same name.  Playlovers is actually doing a classical opera. This is a fully staged production with orchestra and importantly sung in English.
