ITA Annual General Meeting

Norma | 21/02/2010 - 18:23

Results of the 2010 ITA AGM.

PRESIDENT:     Kimberley Shaw

VICE-PRESIDENT:  Dannielle Ashton

SECRETARY:     Breeahn Jones

TREASURER:    David Young

COMMITTEE: (inalphabetical order)

Andrew Gould,* Kimberley Harris,* Kerri Hilton*, Tyler Jones, Ryan Taafe,* Paul Treasure,

ITA LINK EDITOR:  Zyg Woltersdorf*

*New

it was noted, with some concern, that while the meeting was fairly well attended, very few of the member clubs had bothered to send  any representatives to the meeting. The represented clubs were:

Blak Yak,Old Mill, Playlovers, Roleystone , Stirling Players , Mesh Theatre Co, and one undecipherable signature which was, I think- Wanneroo - out of 27 Metro clubs only 7 has bothered. Of the country clubs- there was one metro representative- Stage Left!!

Sadly most people find AGMs to be as boring as batsh!t, so they don't like going, even if the organisation is something that benefits them. Such is life???

Maybe we should call them AGPs - Annual General PARTY - and plan them accordingly. Might get more people along. Eye-wink

EDIT: Hmmm, Copyright Laws imply that this idea is now mine, so anyone wanting to use this idea will have to pay a down payment on the temporary loan of the concept of an AGP. <rubs hands gleefully before realising he is talking crap>

Meetings without notice?

I only became aware the meeting was on by coming on to this site.... ten minutes before it started... maybe others were in the same boat?

Upstart would have liked to be present but as I have previously mentioned I along with a majority of Upstart's commitee members are in rehearsal for various shows around the metro area and so were unable to attend.

So, Norma, it wasn't that we couldn't be "bothered", it was merely our circumstances that impeded us from attending.

Admittedly - publicity for this event was fairly minimal. I believe an initial posting of the AGM went on to this site and letters were sent to each club inviting them to send to Members.

Just so that clubs are aware (please correct me if I am wrong Norma) all members are welcome to attend the AGM and have voting power for the company - not just committee members. (Each paying company has 2 votes)

Hopefully next year we will be able to pull some more numbers.

Andy

Admittedly Publicity for this event

you are only partly correct Andrew!

Beause we did not have an early February LINK, there was of course nothing in that!, tho it was in the January one.

All member clubs were sent a letter advising them of the meeting and so were life and personal members. As well it was put on the theatre web-site about THREE weeks ago.

What else do  we do ?Tv stations, full page in the West????

(And that comment is bound to get me into all kinds of trouble!!)

In my experience people only usually turn out to an AGM of any kind if they are expecting trouble!!

Even a small note on here along the lines of "Don't forget, tomorrow..." etc etc

Not being a member or a lifer or a club, I didn't know about it until the death knell.

Why does everyone seem to need spoon-feeding these days?

(Gets herself into more trouble)

Because...

Bass Guy's picture

... a lot of the rest of us don't live, eat, breathe, sleep, fart, or sweat ITA business solely. A lot of us have other more pressing concerns in our day-to-day lives.

Despite appearances, I am only ever casting furtive glances over this site and occasionally putting in my three roubles. I would in no way say I was in the loop of things- hence why an occasional "spoon-feeding" is helpful. And I thought that's what the aim of the ITA was; to help. Being berated for being a little slow on the uptake is Bad Form, Ms Davis- as you should well know by now.

If it's too tiring and bothersome for you to help the intermittent visitors to this page in a civil and conciliatory manner, I suggest you leave it to someone else. Yes, you may have reached the end of a tether, (like Na and her flipping obsession with the FAQ Laughing out loud ) but what if I was keen to have attended and, God forbid, shown the ITA some support?

... am I making a fuss? Am I the one grumbling at the clubs who didn't attend? I merely state that I wasn't there because I found out too late. If this rankles, my apologies.

I would have liked to attend the meeting; I didn't because I was unaware until too late that it was on. Am I and those of my ilk to be bollocked for our unintentional ignorance? That's a good way to get support... :-/

I did, as president of Melville, pass on my verbal apologies to Kimberley before the event (I was at a rehearsal), but unfortunately didn't manage to pass on the MTC voting authority to any of our members.

Robert, now you watch it

Robert, now you watch it you little minx, Bass Guy will bite and before you know it this whole thread once again will reel from the slings and arrows...however, that isn't always a bad thing. Bass Guy throws in his three roubles (two cents) and enjoys a little spoon feeding (don't we all?) Norma, has herself in a bother about those that don't bother. Mean while Andrew G (doesn't he host Idol?) wants to pull some lovely numbers. This in itself creates its own theatre, darling, let us embrace our differing opinions and gorgeous salutations to the full.

My one question is, did anything at the meeting get done? I mean really? Would it be in someones interest to attend, or was this particualr meeting just an occasion to get nasty to all those that didn't bother? A genuine question from one who has a genuine intrest.

Ps has anyone seen my handbag?

I can't believe my previous post was moderated down! I feel dirty...oh my!

If someone took offence then what can I say? I am a bad boy, sadly, I need to be taken in hand and given a damn good thrashing, six of the best and all that.

Question is who is going to be the one to administer the punishment? Having read the above, one would (with glee) assume Robbie is the front runner (apparently he wants to hit me with his bag?!?!?!?)

As for the meeting...seriously, anything discussed that would have relevance to the rest of us? Sincere question, not to be taken as sarcasm or any other 'casm, genuinely interested. That was the original reason, I read the thread as I was keen to see what was said, discussed, etc.

Anyway, toodles.

Ps. please don't moderate, it leaves one feeling empty, unlike Robert's bag (sorry, I couldn't resist!)

Anything happen at the AGM?
Author: Paul Treasure
Date: 25/02/2010 - 09:18

Well, actually, yes...
At least one, maybe three items of major importance came up at the AGM.
One with a potenitally large affect on the ITA
One with a potentially large affect on the Finleys
and One with a probably large affect on the Overall Theatre Community.

But you'll find out all about them in due course since you missed the heads up at the meeting...

Playlovers Inc. (Perth) auditions for
Cosi fan Tutte

W.A. Mozart and Lorenzo da Ponte.

Musical Director: David Hardie. Stage Director: Paul Treasure.

No, Playlovers is not doing a musical adaption of Tinto Brass's 1992 soft porn movie of the same name.  Playlovers is actually doing a classical opera. This is a fully staged production with orchestra and importantly sung in English.
