Musical Theatre in a primary school

Hi, firstly can I apologise but I could not work out where to place a new post so Iam unclear as to whether iM in the righ tplace and if this is correct - so please forgive me.

My son starts school tomorrow and I am hoping to be involved in some way with the school. As far as I understand they do no kind of end of year show despite having a great band etc. I LOVE musical theatre and am a great organiser so I thought my contribution to the school could be to help put on a show each year! Great idea? But I would need lots of help as I am even unsure where to start? I would need help with music etc, but I presume the school will have a music teacher? (The school is fairly big with 4 classes per year.

I just wondered:

* Has anyone done this at a school?
* Where could I source scripts and music?
* Is this too ambitious?
* Any advice anyone can give would really help me out.

Thanks in anticipation for any advice.

good luck I would talk with the music teacher, and see if you can work together on the band.
If you would like pupils to sing and dance, then put notes around the school and hold auditions

then once you know who and what talent you have then you can start organising a show. depends if you want it to be just a variety show.
