parking

Parking at a theatre can often be a problem in town, thankfully, in Perth in the evenings, this is generally not too bad. After 6.30, one is sometimes even lucky enough to get a parking bay in the main street, free of charge.
The other night I went to the Playhouse where they have their own car park for a standard fee of $5, which is fairly typical. However, with the car park building being quite old, the spaces tend to be very narrow and the chances of having a bump, or not being able to exit the vehicle after it is actually parked in the space, is quite high. We decided to go across the road to a city owned car park (run by an independent firm – which I believe is now based in China). The parking spaces were still not particularly generous.
After three and a quarter hours, we returned to the car – along with many other theatregoers - to find that the charge was $18. I was not alone in my horror. The machine only took a debit card or coins (have you $18 worth in your pocket or purse?), however no notes. This kind of inconvenience, and robbery, certainly takes the edge off a pleasurable evening at the theatre.

if you stay out late enough the attendant across the road from Playhouse will have gone home and it's free- worked for us doing Princess Ida there.....
but you do have to go to the car after 1130pm
and aren't always lucky

That doesn't work - you pay your $5 as you ENTER to the attendant.
With The War of the Roses it cost me $27 to park at His Maj's carpark!
