Second Samuel Tonight

I too went to see Second Samuel tonight, and I'm very glad I did - its a damn good play!
But what I want to know is why wasn't it booked out? Why so many empty seats? Who on earth did the publicity for this show? It deserves massive audiences, but there were only about 20 people there tonight.
The people who put it on have been either stupid - which I don't believe, if they were stupid they wouldn't have produced such a rocking good show - or their publicity person did f***k all. Either way, they deserve good houses.
Get along and see it, you'll be glad you did.

Oh I think it's a bit harsh

Oh I think it's a bit harsh to heap all the responsibility on the shoulders of the publicity person. Also, the show was covered on stateline and I have seen numerous posters around the place.

I would suggest that it might have a fair bit to do with you going to see it on a Tuesday, typically a very unpopular night with theatre audiences.

Also typically a rehearsal night for many....

community theatres. So that chops out a reasonable number of people involved in productions at present.

Yes Garreth it was covered by Stateline, and I have it on good authority that the Director had to organise that herself!

Second Samuel was great! Lovely performance by the whole ensemble, with lots of humour & touching moments throughout.

Ozzie& Tyler - I thanked most of the cast & crew for a great show, but did not get a chance to congratulate Ozzie on your beautiful script & Tyler on your very sincere portrayal of B Flat.

I'll readily add my name to those recommending this show, & wish the company all the best for the remainder of the season.

There were more than twenty...

But yes. It deserves bigger audiences.

The Theatre on Chester (Sydney) presents
The Servant of Two Masters

Written by Carlos Goldini. Re-Written by Nick Enright and Ron Blair.

Carla Moore

Goldoni is made grouse in this colourful and riotous comic masterpiece. Truffaldino doesn’t really think through the problems inherent in having two bosses – especially when they’re unaware of each other’s presence and desperate to get back into each other’s pants. Our hero reckons he’s found a way of increasing his coin and food income on his labour. Or, as he puts it: “two masters, two wages, two dinners – too right!”
