Music Theatre Audition Masterclass

The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts continues its acclaimed Music Theatre Audition Masterclass to help demystify what can be a daunting process – the musical audition.
Tired of “just missing out”? This class offers insights for Professional & Amateur Performers, as well as Teachers, & potential WAAPA students.
The Masterclass is held annually in Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, and Adelaide, and conducted by permanent staff members of WAAPA’s Music Theatre Department. For the first time the class will also be available in Auckland, New Zealand.
The three-hour session includes mock auditions for singing, acting, and dance, and prepares auditionees for all challenges from ‘cattle-call’ to ‘callback’. Whilst not a singing lesson, selected participants are used to demonstrate successful singing & acting approaches, and the session concludes with everyone experiencing a rigorous dance callback.
“An invaluable experience” Nancye Hayes
“Three of Australia’s top Music Theatre Practitioners” Tony Sheldon
“I wish I knew then what I know now” Kate Hoolihan - Star of ‘We Will Rock You’.

The Masterclass includes:

If history is told by the victors, the story of war is usually told by the blokes. Now it's the ‘sheilas' turn. Nearly 1000 Australian women had a part in the Vietnam War as entertainers, journalists, volunteers and nurses. The one thing they have in common is that their lives were changed forever by Vietnam. For many of them it was the most vital and alive they have ever felt. This is their story.
