I am moving to a smaller house and need to divest myself of a lot of books.
Among these are over 200 individual and collections of play scripts.

While the one of the initial moving forces behind this petition has been FREE Australia Party, which has connections with various motorcycle clubs, this is an issue which should attract the support of all Australians.

Fires in WA

I hope that all of our friends in the West are well. I am sure that the thoughts and prayers of all non Western Australia residents go to those who may be affected by the fires. I lived through Ash Wednesday here in South Australia in 1985 so you have my deepest sympathies.

Have you ever wanted to be an Angel but you just don't have the cash? In this case I'm talking about an Angel who is someone who sponsors, or is a patron of, the Arts. Such people do exist but they are few and far between. A lot of theatre just wouldn't get on if it weren't for sponsors, be they government departments, private companies or wealthy individuals. This isn't charity, well not in any pejorative sense, it's patronage in it's purest form. The Arts has never survived without patronage, otherwise known as philanthropy.

I’ve been writing plays since the late 1980’s producing 7 full length works and about 15 – 20 short plays ranging from 10 minutes to 50 minutes in length. Most of these plays have been performed, some of them a number of times, by different groups in several countries.

I don't know if this is true anywhere else but

I am involved in the SA Writers Theatre here in Adelaide. This year we ran a competition for young playwrights focused on year 11 and 12 students and had no entries. That's right none.

I attended a forum yesterday in Adelaide about grants and funding through the Australia Council.
An interesting statistic came up.
Apparently according to a survey they did enough people attended performing arts events in 2008/9 to fill the MCG 45 times.

The debate that occurs on this site a lot when bad reviews are posted has of course raised its ugly head again. It is interesting because I have just read a complaint about a review in a local community theatre paper published here in Adelaide.

Recently I have had a couple of points brought to my attention.
First apparently neither Billy Sing the Anglo-Chinese ANZAC nor his Chinese father are to be played by Asian actors in a film or mini series or something.

Footlights

I have the task of creating footlights for a production of "She Stoops to Conquer". I did this in the UK once and was able to acquire at very reasonable cost vacuum formed plastic sea shell style reflectors to fit onto the battens I built. I have "let my fingers do the walking" in various yellow pages and google searched for what I want and have found them overseas but not in this country.
