ummm...where is ingham???
can you let me no coz anywhere you would be able to get an agent. im getting one for myself now. just look for message boards and that kinda stuff.
a great place is a theatre so if you are in one of them be sure to pick up pamphlets and anything. i was there with a friend filming and we picked up a heap of what we thought junk but i actually found a contact detail for an amazing casting director called wizzy Evans. i saw her and now shes recomended me an agent! Smiling
also look in phone books and look up stuff on the internet!
also thy this website: www.starnow.com.au
you can create your own profile and agents take a look on that all the time. all you need is a good picture of yourself!!! good luck! Smiling

Does anyone here (regulars) use or have heard of Starnow? Or is it just one of those websites to suck naive kids in? (Serious question, I keep seeing it linked on the net, but mainly by young people, and have never heard of it before) Just wondering how legit it is

Thanks - I've had a momentarily glance, but not my usual gung-ho dive in. Frankly, my first impression was to avoid it; I just want to know whether to advise people to do the same. (I'll also add a short note: I'm rather bored of being the investigator, which is mainly why I haven't bothered to check it out properly)

There does not appear to be anything wrong about it. It is a relatively cheap service and provides a rather simple yet effective Web Profile. It is a bit like Seek for Theatre in a way and I have seen a fair few Legit adverts posted there which have also been posted through more standard networks also. Mind you, there is no restriction on Who can advertise so you would have to tread VERY carefully before replying to any.

I fell that if one had an agent that they should consult with them regarding any ad postings before following through.

As for the profile service, let's just say that getting on there does not guarantee work - as with anything - but it is a great way of creating a basic actor's profile. Check my SN Link Below if you like.

Star Now

As a director I would be reluctant to use it for casting again. I booked (about) 7 auditions from it and with the exception of one nice girl who auditioned by dvd, none of them showed up for their audition.
I know that doesn't mean that everyone on Star Now is slack, but it wasted a lot of our day and gave us the impression that a lot of the users ARE slack.

Thanks for the comments (and sorry for hijacking the thread). I did see one ad - on the UK site I think - for a very dodgy thing about women getting raped... not an audition for a risque show mind you, something completely different.

My thoughts are it's a sort of upmarket Craigslist; and I don't recommend craigslist anyway for roughly the same reasons as Labrug made.... There are better ways of getting the info.

I have used starnow for at least 12 months. I performed in the melbourne fringe and got heaps of footage for my show reel and ended up finding my boutique agency there... worth a go. Not heaps of paid work but more than a lot of other sites.

They also have a great support team. If you ever have an issue, they will be in touch with you ASAP. Cheaper than other sites.... agents always work better but for a start off platform, some experience, for a profile whih is accessed via a simple URL... used for looking for an aagent. worth it!!!
