Casting complete...

... well, I wish. Casting for Cosi is, more accurately, almost complete. Complete enough that I figure I can publish the known cast list and just hope that the last remaining role will be confirmed in the next day or so.

Drum roll please!

Yes, yet to confirm Zac but delighted to have the other members of the company all sorted. Hope to be filling the gaps in the crew later this week as well - thanks to a few people that have been in touch!

The draft rehearsal schedule is ready to roll. Just the venue details to confirm.

Does anyone else find splitting the play into french scenes a really useful device for getting an image of the structure of the play into their head and arranging rehearsals?

With a play like Cosi I reckon it's the best way to go. It'll help you kep the complexities under contro; and will really help in not wasting your or actors time at rehearsals. It's great discipline.

Filling large cast lists quite often is the biggest hurdle any production team can face, not just the director. I was lucky with Quake - Three turned up at auditions but I was able to quickly track down the other two. The fact that you hav managed to grab all but one is pretty dang good in my eyes.

I have feelings of Dread when I contemplate my next project;

5 Male (adults 18 to 30s)
8 Females (adults 18 to 30s)
few Young Boys (8 to 12) (1 speaking part)
few Young Girls (8 to 12) (1 speaking part)

It will be fun no doubt. Filling the parts will be interesting....

I am reasonably confident I have picked your next play Jeff, provided you are sticking to the same playwright mentioned. An interesting choice.

If you picked the right play, then the choice may need explaining. The theatre I shall be director for is to celebrate 75 years. The play in question (I have been told) was the first play they ever did. I was also the first Community Theatre production I personally ever did. I had done one show previously as part of a Youth Theatre group. The choice was natural.

...now do it again!

Mah Wahf has been talking out of school about me (the horrific wench has now been beaten with licorice ropes as punishment) so if you're up, PM me; or I'll ring YOU tomorrow morning at some violently inconvenient hour.

Thanks everyone for a great rehearsal last night - to hear you all in character really made the words jump off the page for me.
