Absent Friends

I was planning to have a rest after Doctor In The House was all over. It was all going to plan. I popped into the theatre to refocus the lights last Wednesday night for Absent Friends, as tech rehearsal was to be held Sunday.
Yep.....no problems there. Just a wash and a couple of specials to hang. Couple of hours work. I stayed and watched the Act I rehearsal. Looking pretty good.

Thursday. My phone rings. One of the actors has pulled out. Can I step in?

A week 'til opening night.

Yes, I can step in, but a week? We decide to cancel opening week, and run a seven night season over two weeks. An extra rehearsal is called for Saturday, so I can get the blocking down.

So here we are, 4 rehearsals in. It's script down tommorrow at tech rehearsal. Preview for front-of-house helpers on Tuesday, and we open on Thursday.

I should get back to the script, I guess.

Bookings can be made on 93304565

Jeff's heroic late entry into the cast is a task I personally would not relish, but he has stepped up to the plate in fine style and the show is running very smoothly indeed.

I am worried about one thing though, my wife has now acquired her third lover in almost as many weeks!

We now open on the 30th April, and tickets are selling quite well, so don't forget to book!

Now, Paul... Can I have a word with you about Eastfield, do you think??

Thanks Jeff.

Thanks Jeff, without your heroic efforts we would be right up the proverbial sh*t creek. I, and all the cast, really do appreciate your stepping up to the plate at the 11th hour! And I apologise for saying that you look like a christmas pudding after Diana has lost her temper (even though you do). We all love you lots.

Sue.

We've made it to closing

We've made it to closing night, and are playing to a full house tonight. If you haven't booked, there were 5 seats available as of last night.
The audiences have seemed very appreciative, and we have had pretty good numbers, even though we had to shorten the season by two performances for reasons mentioned above.
I've settled into the role nicely, never had to prompted (though there has been the odd bit of ad-libbing and paraphrasing) and was slapped on the wrist by Sue last night for moving a bit too far away from the script.
Looking forward to tonight, the party, bump out, and then moving on.

Manly Musical Society (Sydney) presents
Oklahoma!

David Izzard

Oklahoma! is the one of the first of what were called the American ‘book’ musicals where the music and lyrics added to and expanded on the story and as a result includes such classics as “Oh what a beautiful morning”, “Surrey with a fringe on top” and the cheeky “I’m jest a girl who Caint say no”. Manly Musical society in association with Bizzie productions have taken this well-loved musical and breathed new life into it with an amazingly talented young cast. The result is a vibrant and energetic retelling of this much loved piece. Book your tickets today to see the best of Sydney community theatre come together to present one of the most loved musicals of our time.
