Peter Probert | 21/10/2008 - 01:45

I recently submitted a call out for any unused, unwanted but good condition Strand Patt 23's and 123's please.
Indeed any used lighting that can be refurbished by me for use by a small but growing travelling musical theatre road show here in Brisbane......these can be anything ancient to anything modern....from ye good olde floods to moving heads/ intelligent lighting that once worked but now kaput.........

Hello,

I think I may be able to help you - I have a friend who owns a shipping yard in Sydney. For the past 4 years he has been holding onto 6 shipping containers from the late but very successful staging company. The owner of the shipment has not paid rent on the containers and is not in any position to pay. He does however need to recoup $$ that was lost. He has a whole heap of Strand Patt's including spare lenses and parts. How many do you want and how much would you want to pay?

Jess

Thanks kindly for this. I don't have a great deal to spend - I was looking for some gear that is probably replaced by the smarter stuff, and surplus to requirements with a value of, well...........however, there has to be some price I guess. $50 a piece for the Patt 23's / 123’s and the like would be fair I guess. Probably looking at 10 off........... I have found 2x from a mate in Melbourne for giving and purchase 2x from eBay UK.

Does this container have any intelligent (mirror) fixtures and moving heads??????

Cheers – Peter

Hi Peter.
As Jess was not a logged in user, you have no way of contacting him/her unless they come back and visit this page again. Quite often, people post messages and never return to read the answers. If it was a logged in member, you are able to send that user a message. Good Luck!

Pardon me for being a pessimist, but I get a sinking feeling that somewhere "Jess" may be sitting, chortling quite mirthfully up her/his sleeve at your eagerness to achieve your goal.

Sorry Peter, but I think you may have been had. I noticed that "Jess" did not mention the name of the "late but very successful staging company" nor did "she" mention the name of the person/yard where the equiptment is being held. Just as a further thought, if the line about the company that went bust is true, then surely a successful "staging" company would have ample "mates in the game" on which to offload the equiptment?

It is a sad state of affairs in the world today where almost every plea
from an enthusiast is met with some form of "joke" reply.

"Be nice to your Tech's - or they'll turn out the lights and go home!"

Yep - the proverbial happens............

Did seem quite a plausible reply! I have been given a Patt 23 which looks like a prototypical model – making it old and one of the originals - which is in good nick and a collector’s item no less. I have found 2x in UK which I have purchased via e-bay - I now have 4x.

As you say, be nice to your techs - they can pull the plug.....

Stepping Out

Richard Harris

Brett Russell

This good-natured comedy from Richard Harris chronicles several months in the life of a beginning dance class. Each of the eight students, who come from a variety of backgrounds, has his or her own reason for joining. For instance, Maxine, a confident, fast-talking saleswoman, is there on doctor's orders, while self-sacrificing Andy participates because it is the only thing she does for herself. Whatever the cause, they make a point of coming every week to chat, relax and, if they can manage to, learn a couple of dance steps.
