Why I haven't been around much lately...New production News

Sean B | 12/12/2007 - 12:52

Hello everyone, you may have noticed (or may not) that I haven't been around as much lately, and I thought I'd better explain myself.

Basically what's been going on is the plan for a new January show by my group 'The Lazy Creations Group'.

The idea was to create something new and challenging for ourselves, once again on a shoe string budget, which will captivate and entertain our audience.

And be much better than Boy Banned.

So our new production has been born, and 'The Princess And The Flower' is set to premiere in late January 2008.

The show has little or no dialogue, features masks, puppetry and movement and gesture as the main story telling devices, in an outdoor venue.

So it's a nice new challenge for us all!

However I can see we set out to meet the challenge-

The new additions to the group for this production have so far excelled and I'm very happy with the progress so far. We have a new costume designer who has previously worked with us in the set department for Frank The Plucker (and considering she only had max $50 to spend on that she excelled, so we look forward to her amazing low budget costume creations), plus a new Musical Director- as this production will feature live music. Aside from myself directing we will also be adding a 'Visual Director' to help us turn plot into movement, our 'Visual Director' has choreographed a number of school productions and looks forward to advancing her horizons by taking on something that is less dance, and more storytelling through movement.

We will once again have a stunning line up backstage and front of house- it's an area we try to excel at, so this show should be no different.

I have been working on the script for some months now- and the final version appears now to be smaller than all the rest. In fact it is more like a plot guide rather than a script- with much of the work and fleshing out of the play hoped to be achieved through improvisation and the combination of everyone's thoughts.

The story is of a failing Kingdom and Family relationship, broken apart by a mysterious Jester and a mystical flower.

Well I've been busy working on the poster for the production, as well as rustling up a cast.

Our costume designer has been busy with some costume designs which are so far looking great- but she's not happy with any one in particular so she's still blending and mixing to get the result she's after.

When I get the poster one I'll at it on here.
