This post would be better

This post would be better off attached to another thread in the forums, rather than the FAQ...

Your inquiry has nothing to do with this site's points system.

Did nobody read my post above? Stop posting things to the FAQ - post them in the forums, that's what they're there for.

The Problem is with form layout

I think the reason people have posted replies here instead of in another thread is possibly accidental, and probably caused by the ambiguous layout of this form.

At the bottom of your post, there is a link saying 'reply'. They have been clever enough to avoid that.

But at there at the bottom of the thread, in huge font, is a box titled 'Post New Comment'. It makes sense that someone might be confused, and having avoided the 'reply' link, would think they were starting a new thread with their inquiry...not realising that 'post new comment' REALLY means 'post a reply to the first post in this thread'.

It's ambiguous and misleading, so Na don't get too upset with people appending to this thread...so far no one has actually explained to them what they're doing wrong. Especially since the website seems to be telling them it's right!

Cheers,
Craig

Yes, I noticed the date. But you DID send someone a reference link to this thread only yesterday, which makes it a part of that current thread.

It may be two years old, but the ambiguous layout of the webpage still exists, so it's still a relevant point, no?

Cheers,
Craig

PS: notice how even you just posted your reply to me so that it looks like you're responding to the original thread and not to my post? It's probably about time something was re-worded, if even you're getting confused!

As I said - I agree. It's confusing. I will also mention that I use the non-default template to the site, as I prefer the style... those who are not logged in do not have the opportunity to use this template, which makes it somewhat easier to see where to reply or not.

On a side note, I had thought of designing a new template for the site, as a test of web design skills, but have other things to do. It would be nice if we could update the design a little, or reduce the 'messiness' of the look. I mentioned this in my last blog post.

Perhaps instead of sidetracking this further, we could discuss the issue there?
