NFO* Opera Performance Workshop Week at UNE, Armidale :
JANUARY 11 – 15th (incl) 2010.

The great attraction of this Workshop Week is that …Accommodation is offered at UNE at Mary White College, breakfast and dinner included, at a cost of $49 per day. At $300 for 6 night’s accommodation, this is an enormous saving on similar Opera Workshop Weeks ( offered in Sydney eg) at about $700 pw for the workshop only.
Students who wish to find accommodation outside the College, pay only $450 for the Workshop.
This is a rare, and ideal situation, because we would be fully occupied in our intensive Opera Week, and to live on campus with meals provided, means no time and energy wasted in shopping, travelling, cooking while you are there..

The Opera scenes will be conducted by an experienced conductor from NSW, giving singers the additional opportunity of learning the skill of working with a conductor.
Participants would study and perform roles, (probably 2 each), with Ghillian Sullivan, and Norma Marschke. Instruction in all aspects of opera performance will be provided, including languages.
Repertoire will chosen after we receive enrolments and voice-types, and will be suited to the student’s ability at the time. Students will be given repertoire prior to arrival and are expected to have memorized their roles, ready for coaching, and production calls. We expect to have 2 pianists working on the Opera Workshops, so that coachings can continue elsewhere, while others do production.

Participants will arrive and check in on Sunday 10th Jan, have dinner in the College at 6pm, then attend a WELCOME at about 7pm, where we would get to know each other, and receive final schedules.
The ‘Opera Performance Concert’ will be on Friday 15th Jan , at approx 4til 5.30 pm, enabling students to have dinner in College at 6pm and then attend the Australasian Piano Summer School’s final concert that night. Students would check out of College on Saturday morning (16th Jan).
