for TV - Scenework Essentials - Screen Acting Courses

Beginner Course - 8 weeks
This course focuses on how to approach a script and how to bring
the most believable character to life for the camera. It introduces
techniques that will help free the actor from inhibitions, giving
them greater access to their emotional and imaginative life.
Throughout the course you will work through a number of scenes
from a variety of genres.
This course also covers auditioning techniques and you will be
screen tested by a casting director following the course. You
will walk away with pieces on tape suitable for use on your show
reel.
By the end of the course students will have learnt skills to
help them commit to a truthful performance, been exposed to numerous
acting techniques and will have learnt how to cope with performance
nerves You will also be put on 2 Divas casting database to be
considered for suitable castings.

Suitable
for:

This course is suitable for anyone who has an interest in acting
for television or film. It covers the foundational elements of
on camera acting. No prior experience is necessary to participate
in this course.

Tuesday evenings
Tuesday 8th, 15th and
22nd of February. 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th of March 2011
from 7.00pm - 10.00pm
Screentest: 29th of March 2011 from 6pm - 9pm.

Course
Director:
Lucy Freeman

is a highly respected and experienced director and acting teacher.
She trained in the USA at the Strasberg Institute of Theatre,
Film and Television, the HB Studios (Uta Hagen) and in Stella
Adler's Master Class. Lucy founded the Acting Studio of Melbourne
where she was principal acting tutor and Artistic Director of
the production arm for over a decade. Lucy has over 15 years
experience as a director, associate director, 1st Assistant director
and dramaturge in theatre, documentary film, music clip and web
based projects. She has directed productions at The Arts Centre,
Hamer Hall, The CUB Malthouse, Forty-Five Downstairs, Metro and
Regional Performing Arts Centres, Red Stitch, Chapel off Chapel,
La Mama and The Storeroom. Lucy is Artistic Director of Straightjacket
Productions and chair of the Australian Women Directors Alliance.
She has a first class honours and was awarded the GEICO life
scholarship for academic excellence. Lucy is committed to new
Australian Works and her directorial vision encompasses text
based narrative art with a focus on realist characterisation.
In her teaching Lucy combines her considerable experience in
the Australian Industry with a contemporary application of the
Stanislavsky/Strasberg principals of acting.
