Fresh Ink Young Writers Workshop

WAYTCo and Stages Playwrights Consortium proudly announce that we have attracted the Fresh Ink workshops for young writers to Perth. Fresh Ink is the playwriting arm of the Australian Theatre for Young People. Fresh Ink workshops have been held in the east for several years, but this is the first opportunity for us to bring them to Perth.

Australian Theatre for Young People The workshop will be directed by Lachlan Philpott, who directs Fresh Ink young writers program at Australian Theatre for Young People and tutors playwriting at NIDA. He has taught script writing in Africa and Europe and at The Royal Court in London. His play Silent Disco won the Griffin Award in 2009 and his play Bustown is currently shortlisted for an Australian Writers Guild Award. He promotes his workshops as follows…

Excavate your imagination, free yourself to take risks and develop your ideas through a range of enjoyable tasks that explore finding the right start point, tapping into the pulse of your characters and writing cracking dialogue.

This deliciously wicked and dangerously funny one-woman show stars Helpmann Award winning actor and singer Ursula Yovich (Australia, Jindabyne, Waltzing The Wilarra) playing a cast of bit characters from the stories of Rapunzel, Red Riding Hood, Cinderella and more.
From one of Australia’s most original contemporary playwrights, Vanessa Bates (Checklist for an Armed Robber), this is a black comedy with songs – a night of stories told by twilight (the original kind) with werewolves and with magic…
