Accent
INTRODUCTION
TO A GENERAL AMERICAN ACCENT - 5 WEEK COURSE
This
course is designed to introduce the acting student to a
General
American dialect, to study it seriously, and reproduce
it accurately.
Vocal production exercises are incorporated to develop a
theatrically
interesting and flexible use of the instrument. Class
work is
centred on vocal exercises, learning a phonetic approach
to the
dialect, and applying the dialect to a monologue(s) or
scenes
to study and present.
Suitable
for:
All Australian regional accents and most english
speakers who
want to learn a General American Accent including
American's
whose accent has been 'Australianised'. Please inform us
if you
have an accent other than Australian for class
preparation and
materials.

Teacher
Susan Gorence
is a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic
Arts (New
York) and studied theatre at the University of
Arizona. She
received a scholarship from the Drama League of New
York. Susan
works as an actress and accent coach in film, television
and
theatre. She was the accent coach on the films GROSS
MISCONDUCT
and THE LEONSKI INCIDENT and she has worked for the Melbourne
Theatre Company and the Victoria State Opera
to name
a few. Her acting credits including OCEAN GIRL,
SINGAPORE
SLING, ZOO FAMILY, and most recently THREE HOTELS
at La Mama.
