Climbing Vine is offering young Perth actors the opportunity to learn
practical theatre performance in a hands-on, production based
environment!
The Book of Tales has its roots in one of our oldest traditions –
storytelling. Travelling bands of performers would wander from place
to place, town to town, performing cultural tales to earn their keep.
Dancer, singers, musicians, jugglers, actors, all accompanied the
master Bard, bringing legends of the past, news of the day and visions
of the future to the people. This production will allow our young
performers to learn classical storytelling in a traditional theatre
environment. Incoporating movement, music and a lyrical script, The
Book of Tales will bring a sense of magic to the stage. Cultural
influences from all over the world will weave an intricate and
beautiful tapestry, reminding us of our roots and the importance of
storytelling.
The production will debut at the Belmont College Amphitheatre in April
of 2010.
Young actors will take part in a course of workshops to develop the
performance, followed by a two week intensive rehearsal period.
The program begins in January of 2011 and is open to young actors aged
10 to 25.
