Due to the overwhelming popularity of Spontaneous Insanity's inaugural Theatresports™ season earlier this year, the Perth Theatre Trust and Subiaco Arts Centre proudly present Spontaneous Insanity's Theatresports™ - Winter Season. The winter season starts, 6pm Sunday 23 May for four Sundays of improvised theatrical fun the whole family will love at its new home, the Subiaco Arts Centre.
And this is your chance to get involved!
Spontaneous Insanity’s Creative Director, Glenn Hall, will be running a four-week season of Theatresports™ improvisation workshops at Subiaco Arts Centre, starting Sunday 16th May.
Glenn Hall is regarded as one of Australia's elite improvisers. He has taught impro at WAAPA for nearly a decade and is a Theatresports National Champion, guest-starred in the hit show Spontaneous Broadway at His Majesty’s Theatre last year, and has recently returned from performing in Impro Melbourne's Celebrity Theatresports™, as part of The Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Not only a seasoned improviser and actor, Glenn is also a qualified teacher (B.Ed English and Drama), and is equally passionate about performing and teaching.
In this workshop series, you will not only learn the iconic Theatresports™ format, but also the theory, language, skills and fundamentals of the art of improvisation which will be explored through active participation in games, exercises and discussion – all in a supportive environment. Teamwork and team dynamics is central to Theatresports™ and the skills of leadership, game selection as well as issuing and acceptance of challenges will also be covered.
Unique to the improvisation workshops is the opportunity to then apply the skills you've developed, as you become part of the rookie cast of Spontaneous Insanity's Theatresports™ - Winter Season at Subiaco Arts Centre.
Workshop participants must be 18 years or over and some performance or improvisation experience is beneficial (although beginners are welcome).
Workshops dates are 12:30pm - 4:30pm, Sundays 16, 23, 30 May and 6 June 2010 and cost $200 inc gst
Places are strictly limited. Bookings through Subiaco Arts Centre direct on (08) 9380 3000.
