You would be better off adding this as a new thread in the forums, rather than attaching it to a group.

However, if you are keen on getting into puppets, you should check out UNIMA Australia, the Aussie branch of the international puppetry union. They have some links of local performers. You can also try Puppetry Australia (just google both) as it has a lot of links.

Try calling Spare Parts; it's more than likely that they have a need for volunteers, and it's an excellent way to see what they do and make some contacts.

If you are into puppets, try getting hold of some books and experimenting on your own. A good couple of links to have handy is Puppetvision.blogspot.com, a blog that has some excellent thoughts, ideas and handy info about puppetry; also Puppetrynews.com - by an Aussie puppeteer - is an excellent start.

If you are extremely keen, you can also apply to VCA's puppetry course in Melbourne. They are the first and only postgrad/masters degree in the craft.
