Why don't you talk to the ITA about the possibility of organising someone to come up to Kalgoorlie to run a theatre lighting course/workshop (maybe over a weekend) for all your interested members.
The ITA has organised workshops in country towns in the past.
It would probably help if sponsorship (eg Country Arts) could be organised to help defray expenses.
Or maybe someone who's up on theatre lighting & has plenty of free time on their hands would go up to Kalgoorlie to run a workshop for you in return for their fare plus board & lodging for a weekend or even a week or two.
Just a couple of thoughts!
