INTRODUCTION
TO A GENERAL AMERICAN ACCENT - 5 WEEK COURSE

This
course is designed to introduce the acting student to a General
American accent. Vocal and acting exercises are incorporated
to help achieve an accurate reproduction of a General American
Accent and to develop a flexible use of the instrument. Class
work will include applying the dialect to a monologue(s) or scenes
to study and present. Although group structured, one-on-one assessment
will be provided within this course.

Suitable for: All Australian regional accents and most
english speakers who want to learn or perfect a General American
Accent including American's whose accent has been 'Australianised'.
Please inform us if you have an accent other than Australian
for class preparation and materials.

Course Director: Tyler
Coppin was born and raised in America and is a graduate of NIDA.
He works as an actor, writer, and as an American accent coach
in film, television and theatre. He was the accent coach
on Spike Jonze's Where the Wild Things Are, Dark City,
and has coached privately for Magda Szubanski, Joel Edgerton,
and Heath Ledger - to name just a few. His work as an
actor includes a Helpmann Award for his performance in The 25th
Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Melbourne Theatre Company,
Sydney Theatre Company) and a Fringe First Award for his acclaimed
solo-show LyreBird (Tales of Helpmann) (Sydney Opera House, City
of London Festival, UK, USA).US Accent
