AusStage is a very interesting project. It's actually been around for a few years now but I gather it's finally out of the pilot stage.

There is a form for adding/correcting information but you'd have to start each event from scratch - there doesn't seem to be a way of editing existing events - at least without a login.

Wish I was! I did speak with some staff from the National Library a few years back who mentioned AusStage. At that stage AusStage was still very much under development but had a half dozen or so staff working part time on adding details.
I've written to AusStage offering access to the detail here.
