A IS FOR ATLAS is an independent, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the collaborative development of Australian artists and arts practices, and to the evolution of our creative community. Our aim is to develop a community of individuals and organisations with whom we can work to create a broader appreciation of the Arts in Australia.
We aim to create an environment where independent artists can develop, through collaborative processes, both their art and their audience. We believe that the sharing of creative experiences is a unique and effective way of understanding the world better, and of understanding each other better. Fostering the evolution of a community in which this sharing is both broad and frequent, is why A IS FOR ATLAS.
Creativity*
A IS FOR ATLAS is about the arts. Creativity is that one thing that sets the arts apart from everything else. It’s finding that elusive spark, that defining inspiration, that hidden meaning. More than that, it’s about finding ways for those who are inspired to turn their inspiration into something tangible which the world around them can digest.
Collaboration*
A IS FOR ATLAS believes that collaboration is the key to producing the best possible creative outcomes. By sharing experience and expertise we can create an environment in which artists can both realise their own objectives, and assist in realising the objectives of others. Sharing our creative voice allows us to be more prominently heard.
Evolution*
Art is about a journey of creative exploration that can develop both artistic processes and product on the one hand, as well as the community in which that art takes place on the other. A IS FOR ATLAS strives for evolution on all levels: personally, creatively, within our shared community, and the evolution of the place of artistic enterprise within our society.
