Company information

The Act-O-Matic 3000 is a Green Room Award winning company based in Melbourne. Since 1999, the company has gone from strength to strength, producing theatre at a consistantly high-level, earning critical and popular acclaim.

It has performed throughout Australia at a variety of venues and participated in some of the country's largest festivals. In February 2003 it staged a sell out season of Italian American Reconciliation by John Patrick Shanley for the WA Fringe, receiving a nomination for 'Best Production of Fringe'.

The same year, the company staged bash by Neil Labute, as part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival and again, it received nomination for 'Best Production of Fringe'. After a highly successful run, bash had a return season at The Store Room in February 2004 to further critical acclaim.

The Act-O-Matic 3000 commenced 2005 with its production of The Laramie Project at Chapel off Chapel. The public and critical acclaim for this show was overwhelming and resulted in it winning Best Production Fringe/Independent Theatre at the Green Room Association Awards.

2006 concluded in October with the powerful Australian premiere of The End of Civilization by George F. Walker. 2007 began with the Australian premiere of Neil Labute's scathing short play cycle, Autobahn, directed by David Ryding.

The direction, by David Ryding, is slick, the cast accomplished and Labute's writing compelling... the performances are skilful and the plays riveting.
