Company information

       2012 Celebrating 50 years!

The Albany Light Opera Company was established in 1962. The name was changed in the 1990’s to minimise the emphasis on Opera and create a wider appeal to prospective audiences. The aims of the Company remain the same, that is, to provide an opportunity for those people who wish to display their performing talents and provide entertainment for the population of Albany and surrounding districts.

The productions of the Company are principally shows that have a musical theme, but the talents required are diverse and include the ability to act, sing, dance design sets, lighting design and the technical support for set construction, lighting operation and sound reinforcement.

As well, the Company enjoys the support of the many talented musicians that reside in Albany. These people give invaluable time and energy to ensure that our productions are as good as we can possibly make them.

It is a matter of pride that, although as an amateur Company, nobody receives any payment for their contribution, we are frequently congratulated for the professional standards of our performances.

This year Albany Light Opera & Theatre Co (Inc), established in 1962, celebrates our 50th anniversary.

We are planning a special weekend later in 2012 to gather together old friends and new to help celebrate this momentous occasion.
