Cathay Playhouse Incorporated is a non-profit theatre company registered under New South Wales Office of Fair Trading (Funeral Funds Act 1979). It has been providing arts through Chinese theatrical artworks for local communities, cultural clubs/groups, and lingual associates/organizations since incorporation in Sydney, Australia in 2004.
Cathay believes in the power of theatrical artwork to transform and educate people’s lives. We believe the benefits of theatrical arts disciplines provide self-esteem, positive group relationship, aversion to relational aggression and educational benefits of theatrical arts. We are much convinced that Chinese culture will be transmitted and enhanced through theatrical arts.

Our aims are to Inherit and preserve the Arts of traditional theater play, to create platforms and opportunities to the general Arts enthusiasts; Through the Arts of stage play, promoting more of a understanding for China and its rich cultural, and through the acts of stage play, enhance the understanding and interaction of performing Arts to Australian Chinese community, and enrich their pastime. Cathay Playhouse has discovered and nurtured a band of Arts enthusiasts and workers, at the same time allowed more people to interact and understand performing Arts and Chinese cultural and promote to the mass media. This is in its own way also affectively promoting the exchange of Chinese and Australian Arts cultural, and Australia’s Multiculturalism. Cathay Playhouse’s audience ranges from early teens to elderly in their seventies, the main target audience group made up mostly of people age group 20-45. Over the last 7 years, Cathay playhouse has performed for an accumulative of 15,000 audiences. Cathay playhouse as a group is receiving more and more recognition and support for its effort in promoting Chinese theater Arts.
Since its establishment in 2003, Cathay has successfully bought to stage 7 major stage plays in Sydney its 7 years: Cathay Playhouse has attracted great number of Arts enthusiasts over the years to join its production team, the group is always growing, and Cathay is maturing towards a promising future enjoying the essences of the arts and experiencing the excitement that is drama.

New short movement based works from three of Shakespeares' well known plays. Much Ado about Nothing, Romeo and Juliet, and "The Scottish Play".
These innovative young directors have devised short pieces using movement and dance and comedy to provide a great night's entertainment.
A Stirling Players Youth (SPY) project, featuring young people aged from 12-24.
