Company information
Chatswood Musical Society (CMS) is one of Sydney's oldest musical societies.
It was founded in 1951 with the objectives of promoting interest in and enjoyment of musical theatre, in particular operetta and musical comedy. Since 1951, CMS has gained a reputation as one of the leading operetta companies in Sydney.
The society produces two shows annually (May/June and October), for 7-8 performances each production. The productions are staged at the Zenith Theatre, Chatswood and are seen by approximately 2,000 people.
There is an Annual Membership Fee, plus a show fee for anyone performing in a show. The society also holds a number of social activities throughout the year.
Auditions are held for the principal roles, but chorus members are not required to audition. Rehearsals are generally held twice each week on Tuesday and Thursday nights.
In addition to producing quality musical theatre, our main aim is to enjoy ourselves and improve our theatrical skills. Membership is not restricted to 'on stage performers'. We also welcome people for backstage, front of house, scenery design and construction, costume making, administration, catering etc. So if you would like to be involved (in any way) in an exciting hobby - CMS could be for you!
