Company information
KIDZ ACT is a semi-professional theatre company for young people aged 5 - 19 located in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
Our aim is to provide young people with the opportunity to learn and experience LIVE THEATRE in a positive, supportive and fun environment that promotes and develops confidence, imagination, creativity and self-respect. Our vision is to "offer young people the opportunity to learn and experience live theatre!"
During our programs, cast members develop a strong level of discipline, memorisation techniques, confidence, coordination, stage craft, dramatic elements, musical notation, body awareness, public speaking skills and professionalism.
The KIDZ ACT program is not only open to actors/singers/dancers, but it encourages young and old to experience the theatrical world from "behind-the-scenes." We provide the training grounds and workplace placements in lighting/audio design and operations, scenery constructions, backstage management and crew, costume design and construction, makeup design and bump in/out.
KIDZ ACT prides itself in offering a program that is unique to Greater Melbourne as well as inspiring our young citizens to explore the creative arts that surrounds them. Cast members often find KIDZ ACT to be a launching pad for professional work in the creative arts sector, with several making their way in to Professional Theatre, Film/Television and Modelling.

Peter describes 'A Country Retreat" as a comedy-drama with a few current social issues thrown in for good measure. Is it possible to “get away from it all”? Maybe…… maybe not. The play is set in a rural area of the South West WA and presents real characters in believable situations. A play for our time.
