The La Trobe Student Theatre and Film office, as part of the La Trobe University Guild, is proud to present ‘Moat Festival 2010’, the annual festival of theatre, music, art and film that kicks off the year at La Trobe University’s Bundoora Campus in the early weeks of March.

Now in its 27th year, the festival provides students with opportunities to produce and perform original works as well as those by established masters. Students develop ideas and rehearse their pieces over the course of the summer holidays, gaining experience in the process of producing creative works.

 In the program to delight and enthral you this year is The Most Excellent and Lamentable Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, which promises a delicious post-modern look at the star-crossed lovers caught in the midst of a family feud.
 Harold Pinter’s The Dumb Waiter is poised to hold you on the edge of your seat.
 In an interpretation of Samuel Beckett’s most famous play, Enter Godot dares to ask what would happen to the play if Godot finally arrived.
 Two Australian plays join forces in Close to the Edge to tickle your funny bone.
 Rope will have you seeing death from the party side.
 Directed by Student Theatre’s renowned Artistic Director Bob Pavlich and inspired by a 1986 film, By the River explores the notion of moral disengagement and completes the theatre season.
 Alongside these offerings, Moat is proud to present Sundowner, a twilight showcasing of the best of student music on campus, Movies in the Moat, and a wandering Art Exhibition of photos, paintings and graphic works composed by La Trobe students.

Moat Festival 2010 is set to tickle all your senses, whether you are looking for adventure, laughs or romance. As students from a variety of faculties and disciplines join forces to entertain and engage you, we dare to say that you’ll be surprised by student works this year and welcome you to Moat Festival 2010.
