Company information

Mandylights is unlike any other Australian lighting company. We're new, enthusiastic, and consist of three of Australia's most well known lighting designers.

Here's how...

* First and foremost, Mandylights is a lighting design company. The three company directors all have the creative flair to transform the ideas of their clients into spectacular, realistic, practical and functional lighting rigs for their productions.

* Mandylights is not an equipment company. With entertainment technology evolving at such an incredible pace, it's impossible for even the biggest production houses to keep every new product in stock. And with the huge range of lighting tools now available, no company can always have exactly the right gear for the job. Mandylights will always seek to find the best product for the job, as opposed to trying to make an existing stock of equipment fit into our clients' requirements. In short, this means our clients always get the most suitable equipment at the right price, from the right location.

* We are here to help, not to compete. Many of our best clients are our colleagues - for a number of reasons. Our design tools, including VectorWorks software and the most advanced lighting visualisation software - ESP's Vision 2 - have already seen us help out other lighting designers and companies from Australia and beyond. Our lighting studio in Sydney provides a perfect environment for visiting designers and programmers to sit, relax and program their shows, use our computers or whatever else they need to prepare for their production.

* Mandylights is truly mobile. Without expensive equipment overheads or committments, our business can move at a moment's notice. Need a lighting programmer in England tomorrow? Easy. Need an entire crew for a project in Thailand next week? Mandylights can do it. Our business structure is designed to work on a global scale, and in recent years the Mandylights directors have found themselves in every corner of the world.

* There's always more than one person who knows what's going on. Freelance lighting designers are all well and good, but if someone falls sick, can't make a job, double-books themselves or for any other reason has to cancel, all of a sudden you find yourself back in square one, trying to find a new designer. At Mandylights, our team is always on-hand to help each other out to make sure your event goes ahead, exactly as planned, every time. Even if your event changes venue on the day of the bump in, we have the resources on hand to manage large-scale, urgent designs. This leaves our clients with the total piece of mind that they don't even have to worry about the lighting for their event - it will always be perfect.

* Our crew actually care. The three Mandylights directors are involved because lighting is their passion -it's more than a job. Similarly, all our crew reflect this core idea. All of our employees are hand picked as crew who always care about each individual project and attack it with professionalism and enthusiasm. In every case, our crew are on site until the job is done. We won't leave after an allotted time, and we'll never give up or put it off until tomorrow. This level of committment also means you can rest easy that our crew will always act with the most professional conduct and highest level of discretion on every job. What does all this mean for you? You can be sure that when you involve Mandylights in your event, you'll be bringing a group of people on board who have formed a company to provide you with the best equipment and people for the job, backed with years of proven professional experience in all areas of the entertainment industry. It's as simple as that.

Dear Richard - Mandylights – congratulations - I too am interested in your work. I live and "play" part-time in Brisbane and any involvement would be great if up this way. I have been associated with pro-am theatre as an old school Strand aficionado for some 40+ years and today’s new-age intelligent lighting is not only fascinating but challenging. I have used a small moving head/ LED PAR/scanner rig of late and the JANDS Vista controller……and learning…….

The Servant of Two Masters

Written by Carlos Goldini. Re-Written by Nick Enright and Ron Blair.

Carla Moore

Goldoni is made grouse in this colourful and riotous comic masterpiece. Truffaldino doesn’t really think through the problems inherent in having two bosses – especially when they’re unaware of each other’s presence and desperate to get back into each other’s pants. Our hero reckons he’s found a way of increasing his coin and food income on his labour. Or, as he puts it: “two masters, two wages, two dinners – too right!”
