Take a look at our FAQ

Take a look at our FAQ section for an excellent article on how to get an agent and what to expect from them. Furthermore, please see this thread, which lists some excellent points on how to get started in this industry.

Please see the following threads:

http://www.theatre.asn.au/green_room_gossip/hallo_lovely_peoples_nathan_is_in_the_lounge_im_new

http://www.theatre.asn.au/book_page/best_places_to_look_for_professional_theatre_auditions_and_tech_admin_work

Additionally: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE use the links at the top of the page (companies, auditions, FAQs), before posting a "work wanted/how do I get into theatre" thread. There are lists and lists of companies, all over Australia, as well as auditions. The SEARCH function is the best way to find what you need to know, BECAUSE WE'VE ALREADY ANSWERED THESE QUESTIONS BEFORE.

I am refusing to add any more to the conversation, as I am now thoroughly sick of answering these posts, and will now only provide a stock-standard cut-and-paste answer.

... I will add this though: try not to post new topics on someone else's thread. This thread was originally a description of Melville Theatre Company, and for some reason everyone has been attaching their 'work wanted' posts to it. If you want to do a work wanted post, at least start a new thread.

Playlovers Inc. (Perth) auditions for
Cosi fan Tutte

W.A. Mozart and Lorenzo da Ponte.

Musical Director: David Hardie. Stage Director: Paul Treasure.

No, Playlovers is not doing a musical adaption of Tinto Brass's 1992 soft porn movie of the same name.  Playlovers is actually doing a classical opera. This is a fully staged production with orchestra and importantly sung in English.
