Off-Broadway Productions is a non-profit organisation meaning that no individuals will benefit financially from the company. All funds that are raised through concerts, grants or shows will be returned directly to the company. These funds will be used to purchase sheet music, show rights and guest choreographers, directors and technicians. In addition to the shows put on throughout the year, performers will be given the opportunity to perform on a regular basis through fundraisers and concerts. Wollongong has access to many different opportunities from Sydney but performers only have access to amateur companies based in the Illawarra. Off-Broadway Productions aims to brings the quality of productions in Sydney to the Illawarra and allow opportunities for performers to improve their abilities. F-Off-Broadway Productions aims to create the highest possible standard for each show through highly skilled performers and bring musical theatre audiences back out. Hopefully performers will be able to pass on knowledge and support to each other. Contemporary Musical Theatre (CMT) has a very distinct style. It moves away from the style of the ‘Broadway spectacle’ that has been so popular and iconic in the past. CMT is based largely on a naturalistic style. The characters have become more like real people dealing with real issues. It requires it’s songs to be delivered in an honest and unexaggerated way. Off-Broadway Productions has direct contact with musical theatre writers in America and therefore will be able to allow performer’s access to music that is currently unavailable in Australia. Off-Broadway Productions aims to encourage performer’s and students to look at new composer’s and shows and bring new ideas and styles to the company. Off-Broadway Productions’ aim is to allow performers to work with the music of the future.
