Based in Brisbane, QSE is a training-based ensemble. The training program focuses on the actor's personal connection to Shakespeare's words, and is based in the Linklater voice/actor training system. QSE also offers periodic Theatre of the Oppressed workshops. Most training programs are open to the public and cater to all skill levels.
QSE performances range from full and workshop productions to staged readings and Shakespeare's Shorts performances for libraries, schools, festivals and other community and corporate events. The Ensemble also runs a prison project which sees incarcerated participants perform a Shakespeare play. The program is an Australian first, and has been running since 2006.
