Take it away or it’s going to the tip....(or somewhere that recycles)
Spotlight Theatre Company is on the move...which means disposing of a lot of collected stuff ie: things that might be ‘useless’ in the context of non-theatre life sale but ‘useful’ for other theatre companies!! Bring a trailer, bring a roomy car...take it away. FREE or maybe very small dollars depending on the item(s)
SETS: Flats, standard height 3 metres, various widths from 1.1m down to 200cm. French windows, two arch door flats (one damaged), two standard door flats (with doors), one damaged fireplace with filler flat. French legs, g-clamps. All designed to be clamped together in various combinations as suited to your production. We have found it necessary to hinge at corners but otherwise the g-clamps work quite well. We are moving away from box set style productions and would like these to go to good home(s) if possible. Sturdy and well made.
2 x single hospital style beds. White, metal frames, designed to come apart and re-assemble quickly, raked slightly so actor lying prone can be seen. Mattresses to match.
Chairs, various combinations, set of two or more, some singles, etc. etc.
Two seater sofa and matching single armchair. Not too big for smaller stages, ideal for lounge room style settings. Currently in a cream covering with red piping (which needs repair here and there) and in need of a good clean and maybe a new slip cover? These were very popular in the 70s.
Small round cafe style tables, 4 of these.
Useful tables with metal legs, melamine tops, ex-school type, make good props tables, etc. A number of these are available.
Yellow metal lockers (office style, for hanging your coat etc. with a shelf for bags)
Misc. rostra, steps, etc. etc.
COSTUMES/CLOTHES Some period and vintage stuff, some panto stuff, gents suits, ladies dresses, shirts, blouses, some cabaret style gear, a sprinkling of 80s stuff (including an amazing gold lamѐ dress). Hats, bags, shoes, etc. Also on offer a friendly Bunyip, you really have to see it to believe it.
PROPS including matching sets of bottles, older style suitcases, foam books, glassware, china, teapots (don’t ask), fake turkey (I said....don’t ask), some slightly weird and wonderful objects.
SUNDAY 9th October from 1.00 pm. 55 Essex Street, Woodville Gardens (corner of Essex & Murchison, enter from Murchison). If it’s on the grass or under the carport it must go........seriously.

I have a set of 73 theatre books that I'd like to get rid of. They include a range of plays and anthologies (including Greek tragedy, and 'classics' that are used for drama education, etc), works by and on Shakespeare, lots of Aussie playwrights, Stanislavski techniques and actor's guides, monologues and audition pieces, hard to find theatre books...

WA Youth Theatre Company (WAYTCo) (Perth) presents
MINE by Jane Bodie

Jane Bodie

Renato Fabretti

Big Brother heads Battle Royale and The Hunger Games in a sexy, tough and compelling new play by WAYTCo
The Western Australian Youth Theatre Company is putting 16 of Perth’s hottest young talent on stage in a remarkable play by Jane Bodie. Her play ‘This Years Ashes’ by Griffin Theatre Company won acclaim in 2011.
Set in a world of the near future these young people find themselves thrown together by forces beyond their control. Struggling to come to terms with their new situation, their captors encourage them to relax and socialise, but what are the reasons behind this most comfortable of prisons? Slowly they come to realise what they are meant to become – a revelation that tests them morally and ideologically.
WAYTCo welcomes back emerging director Renato Fabretti (DNA, October, Lord of the Flies) to work with the youth theatre ensemble and creative team to make this production unmissable. Fabretti, a WAAPA acting graduate and NIDA directing graduate has performed with many major theatre companies, and in Underbelly as the young gangster Chopper Read. His last production for WAYTCo, DNA, attracted big audiences and great reviews:
“Beautifully realised … with terrific direction and all-round excellent performances from the young cast”… The West Australian.
WAYTCo has produced remarkable talent in recent years – Tim Minchin and Clare Hooper stand out as success stories. The confidence and strength these actors achieve from involvement in WAYTCo productions help to prepare them for adult life, even if they don’t become celebrities.
MINE by Jane Bodie will be at the Subiaco Arts Centre from June 2nd previewing with a ‘pay-what-you-can’ night on June 5th before officially opening on June 6th. The production is on Wednesday to Saturday nights at 7:30pm until June 16th.
Tickets available from BOCS or donate $20 to our crowdfunding drive at http://mine.pozible.com and claim a ticket as a reward.
