I'm trying to urgently get hold of Phil Barrett (I think that's his surname), he was in the Old Mill's Production of Breaker Morant - there's a one day paid film role that I think would suit him very well, please ask him to contact me urgently.

A lad in sane...to the end...
With my 53rd birthday heading towards me at an alarming speed, and on the very day my first penned play takes to the stage, it seemed 'the right time' to make a call on the name of our little theatre company. Much has been said, on the merits and demerits of the moniker A lad in sane. Some love it, some loathe, most couldn't care less. A few believe the name conjures images of anarchic uni students, of which I'd struggle to convince. Advice received from people more business like than I, suggested a new (more sensible) name may help in my quest to get my plays beyond the exclusiveness of Coolbellup. As is my want, I pondered, and pondered some more until finally, the dubious characters that inhabit my feeble mind agreed that I should indeed surrender to the fact that I'm now only a lad in thought. And so, my first play, will be the last under the ALIS banner. At some time in the future we shall return with a new moniker in hand. Before we do morph into a name more befitting of a grumpy old bugger who hates everything from 4 wheel drives to 4 wheel drives. I'd like to make mention of a few people without whom the A lad in sane bus would have been clapped out long ago. To my dear friends Gus Fischer and Erin Reid who are with me in much more than spirit. NORMA DAVIS for kindly opening the door to ALIS. TIM PROSSER and HYWEL WILLIAMS for all and sundry. ALFRED MOSCARDINI and ROBERT HARWOOD for the music. GORDON THE OPTOM for trying to find the positives, whence at times there were none, ha! There are of course many others who deserve their name in lights, alas for fear of leaving someone out, I'll take the safe option and say 'fanx a mill!' to you all. I value your contribution, and more importantly, your friendship.

As a fundraiser for a film project, ‘Erotic readings’ was presented for one night, in the Velvet lounge at the Flying Scotsman in Mt. Lawley, Perth.
Although many of the items were offered as simple moved-readings, a great deal of work had been put into the evening. One of the readings was an early twentieth century erotic masterpiece by Anais Nin, whilst others were superbly written, candid pieces from the actors’ university creative writing courses, with some uninhibited and funny articles by various well-known, young stage celebrities. All of the stories were extremely explicit, but told with such quality that Oscar Wilde and D. H. Lawrence would be proud to call them their own. The audience went with the flow and loved the brave presentation.
