‘Rabbit Hole’ is heartbreaking tale, but it has a positive message and many light-hearted passages of comedy. Written by David Lindsay-Abaire, it premiered in 2006 in New York and the next year won a Pulitzer Prize for Drama. This beautifully scripted play not surprisingly attained several Tony Award nominations.

What happens to people when things are forbidden?
Exploring the old adage “curiosity killed the cat”, it’s a theme explored by students from The Actors’ Hub in A Little Rain Must Fall this month.
My annual whinge.
Virtually no productions from Christmas until the beginning of April, and now in the past eight days, 10 plays have opened. I try to be selective, to visit and support as many venues and theatre groups, as many as possible.

‘Abigail’s Party’ is a theatrical classic, written in 1977 by RADA graduate, Mike Leigh. This social satire, Leigh’s 17th play, was after brief stage run (starring his wife Alison Steadman), produced for BBC TV.
A moving story examining grief, laced with humour, compassion and honesty, is set to tug heartstrings at Melville Theatre this month.
Written by David Lindsay-Abaire and directed by Vanessa Jensen, Rabbit Hole won the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and was also adapted into a 2010 film with Nicole Kidman.

A fully staged and costumed production tracing the musical and theatrical collaboration between W.S. Gilbert & Arthur Sullivan and Richard D'Oyly Carter
The story is narrated by Richasrd D'oyly Carte and the action alternates between rehearsal and performance mode presenting excerpts from all 13 Savoy operas.
At times sad, but frequently witty, this show could just as easily be titled " G & S - all the best bits"
Written & Directed by Donna and Andrew Foote this show presents all the joy and colour expected of a full Gilbert & Sullivan production
