UK & AMERICAN ACCENTS with Jill Brown
Hone your Standard American and Received Pronunciation (RP) dialects, through scenework.
ACTT is celebrating the Sydney Fringe Festival by offering exclusive one-day only Masterclass workshops designed to refresh, polish and extend performer’s skills.
Everyone loves to put on an American twang or a plummy British accent after a drink or two, right? But for actors, music theatre performers and all-round entertainers, getting those accents right can mean the difference between being cast in the next blockbuster or working nights in Blockbuster! This one day pro workshop will guide participants through two dialects – Standard American and Received Pronunciation for performers. It is useful (but not essential) to have an understanding of the International Phonetic System as a tool for analysing sounds. Regardless, Jill will revise phonetics during the workshop. Notes and sample scenes will be provided but please bring a pen and paper and wear comfortable clothing in preparation to ‘play’ with your new sounds.

Jimmy has it all: the fastest car on the road, his choice of beautiful women and a thriving drug dealing business in inner city Marrickville. He is handsome, charismatic and stylish…a 'role model' to many young men. His God fearing Greek parents are proud as can be as they are under the impression their son is running a legitimate Book Shop.
