With the troubles at Acorn, I am now having to contemplate my theatre future. Faced with having to audition for roles, I have been having a look at the clubs which are closer to me (geographically). The thought of having to prepare monologues for a play audition and songs in the style of a musical sends self doubt spiralling through my head. I feel I have led a sheltered "theatre life" at Acorn. I have only one successful musical audition to my name (that's all I have auditioned for) and I didn't have to worry if I was a mezzo, soprano or which key I was singing in (Not that I would know anyway). I just sang. Are all the theatres that strict with their auditioning processes for all their productions. I have been in the theatre since 1994 but still feel a little scared at some of the hoops to jump through.
Does this make sense?? Or do all the clubs still welcome new members with open arms?
