Revising old topics - Agents

Labrug | 23/10/2012 - 15:08

After having a thorough discussion with a good friend, and doing some quick research on an un-named agent, I decided it might be worth revising an old post...

Agents Do Not Bulk Advertise. Here I am talking about non-descript (i.e. not production specific) adverts calling for actors for commercial TV, Film and the like, offering what sounds like very generous payments, on general employment site such as Seek and occasionally, and sadly, Star Now. Both these sites are great for what they do, but it is hard to monitor all the ads that get posted here so tread with caution. You are more likely to find legit opportunity on StarNow than other general access sites.

Beyond that, you have the legitimate high end sites such as Show Cast which charge a hefty price in exchange for strict monitoring and security on the auditions posted there. Here, you will be very unlikely to see a Bulk Casting request unless it is for a cast of thousands for production such-and-such. Not an Agency looking for actors to sign up.

It is a Buyer Beware environment out there and you, the actor, are the buyer, so shop around, check your facts, research your product and make an informed decision.

Thanks for that, I never got around to reading the original threads and I had wondered about those very generic ads on StarNow and Seek, I know not to go near them now!!

(Although I must admit I did fall for one :/)

Cheers Jeff!

The Gilbert & Sullivan Society of Western Australia Inc. (Australia) presents
iI'VE GOT A LITTLE LIST

Andrew Foote

Andrew and Donna Foote

A fully staged and costumed production tracing the musical and theatrical collaboration between W.S. Gilbert & Arthur Sullivan and Richard D'Oyly Carter
The story is narrated by Richasrd D'oyly Carte and the action alternates between rehearsal and performance mode presenting excerpts from all 13 Savoy operas.
At times sad, but frequently witty, this show could just as easily be titled " G & S - all the best bits"
Written & Directed by Donna and Andrew Foote this show presents all the joy and colour expected of a full Gilbert & Sullivan production
