Please come and see 'Jigsaws' at Kwinana Theatre Workshop. Yes, I know, you think Kwinana is the end of the of the earth, but its not that far really - 30 minutes from Perth on the Freeway. And I think you'll find the journey well worth while - its a great play, written here in Perth in the late eighties. And I have a great cast:- Sharon Edsall, Sarah Cosstick, Judith Laudehr, Judi St Clair and Elizabeth Connor. They even look like a family! Everyone will recognise at least one member of their own family among the five women on stage. Some of the scenes just about give off sparks - they crackle with so much tension. Some of them even make the cast cry sometimes. Its very funny, sad, and confronting.

Whiplash Theatre's production of this revue (time to coincide with Sondheim's 80th birthday this year) is a treat from beginning to end. Highly recommended for Sondheim fanatics, and more so for those who aren't... for it will make converts of most of you.

‘The Boys’ was written by Perth playwright, Gordon Graham, at the age of 42. Whilst mainly autobiographical, it incorporates scenarios from the Anita Cobby case (24 years ago this week), which is still considered Australia’s most heinous crime in recent history. The play won an Australian Writers' Guild award in 1992. It is presented by the Old Mill Theatre, Mends Street, South Perth playing nightly at 8pm, until 20th February, with a 2.00 pm matinee on 7th February.
The play has several flashbacks and flash-forwards, with the time frame being a little confusing, but overall, this helps to strengthen the tension and give more depth to the story. This review gives part of the story in continuous time.

School or Youth Theatre Musical. 2010.
Script by Judith Prior Music and Lyrics by John Williamson.
John Williamson is one of Australia's premiere music artists. His song writing brilliance coupled with his comedic lyrics and dry wit makes for great entertainment.

It was voted at Wednesday nights AGM to close Acorn Theatre. There are not enough willing motivated members left to run the theatre as a travelling concern. A sad day as another community theatre says goodbye.

What was your Main mode of participation in 2009?
In 2010, the NSW Writers’ Centre will be the venue for a year-long, 30-session intensive course and play workshop that takes you from start to finish, conducted by one of Australia’s most experienced teachers of writing, multi-award winning playwright Timothy Daly.
